North Pole Express

The North Pole Express at the Railway Museum of British Columbia in Squamish.

What (Information from 2024): One of the most magical activities you can do with any Christmas-loving kid (or adult), head to the Railway Museum of British Columbia (about an hour's drive from Vancouver) for this utterly delightful and richly immersive holiday activity. When you arrive, hop on the full-sized vintage train (pulled by a picture-perfect 1950s locomotive) and trundle through the countryside to the North Pole, where Marshall P. Bear––the head of Santa's Workshop––will be waiting for you. En route, you'll encounter a host of onboard characters, singalong to carols and Christmas songs and take part in lots of fun-tastic kid-friendly activities. And once you alight at the North Pole, you'll meet Marshall, the elves and––of course––Santa and Mrs Claus, who will be more than delighted to snap some lovely keepsake photos with you. This warm and ever-welcoming event also includes live music, cookies and unlimited hot chocolate, model train displays and even the chance to ride a miniature train around Santa's sparkling workshop. A hugely popular attraction and a big tradition for many locals and visitors, we recommend booking your seats as far ahead as possible.
